_____________________________________________Bidding is almost over for Keeping It Living 2011Time is running out for you to bid on estuary inspired art. Once again artists from around the Comox Valley and beyond are supporting the protection and restoration of the Courtenay River Estuary by submitting their art to the Keeping It Living Campaign. The goal is to bring about the return of abundance to this beautiful and productive natural feature which truly is the jewel in the crown of the Comox Valley.
Forty three pieces have been submitted from renowned artists such as
Ken Kirkby,
Bev Byerley,
Richard Mravik,
Sofie Skapski,
Brian Buckrell and more. Their art encompasses a variety of styles, mediums, sizes and subjects. The pieces will be on display at
Zocalo Cafe,
Crown Isle,
The Coastal Community Credit Union,
CIBC and the
Royal Bank till March 31st and then on final display at the K’omoks Band Hall for the
Day of the Estuary. Remember these pieces not only have value as amazing art but also as symbols of the quality of life you are protecting, you can go online to

www.keepingitliving.ca_____________________________________________ Day of the Estuary Everyone is invited to help Project Watershed and the Estuary Working Group celebrate the
Day of the Estuary on April 2nd at the K’omoks First Nation Band Hall. Everything estuarine is the theme for this day of celebration, education, art, science and food.
It will be the culmination of the Keeping It Living Art Auction and Competition – all submitted art will be displayed and this will be the last chance for bids and votes. There will be estuary walks and informational displays including a handmade birch bark canoe during the afternoon open house. The open house will end with a salmon BBQ put on by Cory Frank – the day is aimed at testing your brain and tickling your taste buds. There will also be an evening session featuring speakers on estuarine topics. Since seating is limited please pre-register. Join us to inspire the vision and open the dialogue for creating the return of abundance by preserving the Courtenay River Estuary.
