Collectively, our mood is complex this month. Mentally, we have an optimistic outlook, but scratch the surface and we find some deep intimations of despair. Old memories—very old, very dark—are hidden in the backs of our minds, colouring our happiest moods with shades of grey and making life seem too difficult. Hopelessness lurks just behind our minds. After all, we know how the story ends, just the way it’s always ended in the past, with ceaseless struggle then death, and the victors are always the ruthless ones in power.

Yet we persevere, for rising from our root is a crystal-clear vision of hope for a new world, along with the growing motivation to act accordingly. This vision of change emerges in our dreams and memories, a bone-deep feeling of knowing there is a better way, and that we are not alone in this awareness.
