The Comox Valley Art Gallery is pleased to announce our new line-up of summer art workshops for children, youth and adults! This years’ line-up of workshops offers students the exciting opportunity to broaden their artistic abilities and to let their creative side shine! The summer courses will run from July 5th- August 27th, take place in the CVAG Lower Level Studio and are affordably priced.
Have you ever wanted to create zombie flesh or learn the tricks of sculpting battle wounds from prosthetics? Perhaps you’ve wanted to improve your drawing skills or unleash your creative energy through paint? And maybe you’ve wanted to learn the intricate art of painting on silk fabric? Our broad range of workshops and diverse set of talented artists offers a nice variety of artistic skills for students to explore. To kick off the summer, Mary-Anne Moore will be hosting an UpGuys! Acrylic Painting & Functional Art Workshop for children ages 6-12 on July 5th, 6th & 7th from 10am-12pm. The cost of this workshop is only $50 (supplies included.) Students in this workshop will enjoy using acrylic or tempera paint to create decorative salvaged wood blocks which can be used to hold up windows or as indoor and outdoor décor! Students will have fun using their imaginations to design functional pieces of art. Mary-Anne Moore received her Diploma in Fine Arts in 2003 after spending three years at the Victoria College of Art. Mary-Anne was born Salt Spring “the artists” island and grew up on Vancouver Island. She always loved to draw, paint, and be creative in any way.
Other workshops include: Creative Painting for Kids, Diorama Set Design & Painting Workshop, Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting, Advanced Life Drawing Techniques, Special-Effects Make-Up, Painting on Silk Workshop, Graffiti Art, Beginner Drawing for Kids, and many more!
Registration opens June 11th and early sign-up is encouraged as classes are small, prices are great and content is awesome. FMI & registration call the Comox Valley Art Gallery (250) 338-6211 Also: Feel free to join the Comox Valley Art Gallery page on Facebook for more updates!
